We’ve announced today that Channel 4 has acquired our 10 × 47 minute ob doc series, Saving Country Houses With Penelope Keith. This has been covered in detail by trade press including by Broadcast Magazine and elsewhere. Our creative director Owen Rodd said: “Great characters and an array of projects have helped us take a subject that feels like pure heritage and turn it into something thoroughly modern. All About The Music with Neil Brand has picked up some exceptional reviews. The Radio Times said, “There are thousands of podcasts, but only a few of them really shine. Broadcast Magazine has today covered the story that we have announced our new podcast All About The Music, hosted by Neil Brand and featuring famous faces such as Keith Brymer Jones, Bruno Tonioli and Samira Ahmed. This first series of seven episodes is available on all good podcast platforms and exemplifies how Somersault Studio is delivering innovative, digital-first entertainment such as podcasts and YouTube shows, alongside linear television content.

2 x sixty minute documentaries and 1 x 120 minute performance are now on BBC iPlayer here and have received rave reviews from the press including a 5* review in The Sun and a 4* review in The Daily Telegraph which summarised the series as follows: “The BBC fulfilled its Reithian remit by showcasing high culture with a populist twist. The 2 x 60” & 1 x 120” series received critical acclaim with the Daily Telegraph describing it as “an engaging and enlightening journey”, The TV Times said it was “transformative TV” and The Express called it “a small Easter miracle.”

Somersault Studio has devised a new project which see choirmaster Gareth Malone coach 8 amateur singers to sing in a 300th anniversary performance of Bach’s St John Passion. The BBC press release is here.
